Position: Associate Attorney
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Early in her career, Ms. Steven completed clerkships in Kansas and Colorado insurance defense firms, where she worked on claims ranging from medical malpractice to construction defect. From 2008 to mid-2016, Ms. Steven worked for a Denver-based law firm where she concentrated her practice on fidelity insurance law. There, Ms. Steven was retained by one of the country’s largest fidelity insurers to investigate, negotiate and settle multi-million dollar claims filed by financial institutions seeking losses caused by employee “bad acts”.
From Washington to Hawaii, Ms. Steven traveled the country to conduct over 50 forensic investigations into claims of embezzlement, check-kiting, computer fraud, forgery, high-volume loan losses, money laundering, account manipulations, and title discrepancies. Ms. Steven worked alongside financial institution management, Boards of Directors, forensic auditors, CPAs, FBI agents, and adjusters to gather documentation and reach fair and amicable settlements. Ms. Steven also handled subrogation matters stemming from claim payments. Through her subrogation work, Ms. Steven gained experience in professional liability actions, obtaining and preserving evidence, and creditors’ rights.
A detail-oriented professional, Ms. Steven thrives in data-intensive fields and prides herself on her ability to condense voluminous data into manageable content, from which trends and issues can be identified and settlements become feasible. A natural “people person”, Ms. Steven excels when she is able to utilize her interpersonal skills to aid in party-cooperation, document production, negotiation, and liaising among multiple parties to handle sensitive matters gracefully.
Ms. Steven is thrilled to join the talented team at Brosseau Bartlett Seserman LLC where she looks forward to applying her expertise to its Fidelity & Surety Practice as well as expounding upon her investigative and analytical skills in each of the firm’s practice areas.
